Kris is a graduate from Cuyahoga Community College where she studied early childhood education. Soon after, she began her career of working with children. Kris loved her work as a special education assistant with the Parma City School District. After work, she tutored children to help them achieve their IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals.
It was through her tutoring work that she began helping a child who was at the time a client of our practice. Kris was amazed at how quickly the child was able to advance and attain his individual goals. The parent mentioned that ever since she had started vision therapy with her son, his progress exploded. The mother encouraged Kris to contact our office, as she felt Kris would make a “perfect vision therapist”. Kris took the mother’s advice and soon began to volunteer while studying on the side. Kris was employed as a vision therapist in 2012. She completed the educational requirements and examinations to achieve the status of Certified Vision Therapist in 2018.
When Kris is not at work, you will find her at home caring for her mother and her adopted dog. Kris has a great sense of family and is especially proud of her Irish heritage and Irish community which she considers family. For many years, Kris and her mother were sought after entertainers performing as Irish singers for several local Irish events.
Kris also spends a great deal of time volunteering in the community. She especially enjoys returning to the classroom to present the Realeyes Program, in local schools. This is a program that teaches children about their vision. The curriculum for this program was created by the Ohio Optometric Association through a grant from the Ohio Department of Health Save Our Sight Fund.
Adults, children and teens who have had the opportunity to work with Kris will quickly tell you she is joyfully passionate about her work. Kris is always humming a tune, or creating an exercise, making vision training fun and rewarding. Kris has the insight to your eyesight and will help you achieve your goals.
